“The Carousel on The Promenade is the first ride of its kind in the Orlando Entertainment District. We’re extremely proud to introduce our second owned and operated attraction to guests,” ICON Park President and CEO Chris Jaskiewicz said in a news release. “Just as The Wheel has created wonderful memories for families all over the world, so will our new carousel.”

The 36-foot classic ride features 30 handmade figures, including horses, reindeer, zebras, sea dragons and more. It also has two chariot benches. ICON Park Promenade is a brick path filled with merchandise and vendors.

The figures are replicas from antique carousels carved in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This includes the “Rose Horse” carved by Charles Loof for the United States’ first carousel in Coney Island in 1876.

The Carousel at The Promenade’s lead horse is a Spillman Fairy Horse, according to the park’s website. It is named after craftsman Herschell Spillman, who carved the original Fairy Horse.

Sloppy Joe’s, the newest full-service restaurant to join the entertainment destination, is offering a free dessert for the first rider each day during opening week.

The ride costs $5 per rider and is free for adults who pay for their child’s admission.
