City of Palm Bay declares local state of emergency ahead of Tropical Storm Nicole

PALM BAY, Fla. – The City of Palm Bay has declared a local state of emergency, Tuesday, as Tropical Storm Nicole gets closer to Central Florida.

According to a release, the emergency declaration will enable the city to expedite the process of getting essential goods and services to help the recovery effort after Nicole hits.

Palm Bay will be closing all city facilities Wednesday, Nov. 9, and they will remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10, for the storm, and will also remain closed Friday Nov. 11, for Veteran’s Day the release said.

Brevard Public Schools announced on Tuesday that schools will close Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday Nov. 10, and all after-school activities will be canceled.

Brevard County is currently under a hurricane warning, with Nicole expected to move through the county Wednesday evening.
