The current national average for a gallon of gas is $3.26, AAA said.

The average price in Florida is about 12 cents cheaper; about $3.14 per gallon. That is down about 42 cents from November, according to AAA.

This drop in gas prices comes at a good time, as AAA predicts 5.8 million Floridians will be driving at least 50 miles or more for their holiday. The auto agency said this will be a roughly 3% increase over 2021′s travel numbers, which saw about 5.6 million Floridians on the road.

However, air travel is also expected to see a big bump this year as well. According to a news release, 336,145 Floridians will fly for the holiday, which is a 15% increase over 2021′s air travel numbers.
