ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A teenager accused in a deadly shooting of a classmate near Oak Ridge High School will remain in jail while awaiting trial.

In a hearing on Wednesday, Judge Cherish Adams ruled there was enough evidence for the pre-trial detention of 15-year-old Jacori Redding.

Redding is being tried as an adult on a charge of manslaughter in the shooting death of 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy.

In Wednesday’s hearing, the state introduced testimony from the lead homicide detective in the case and showed cellphone video taken from a witness moments before the shooting.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Redding shot the victim on a basketball court at Vogt-Mellon Park hours after the two were involved in a confrontation at nearby Oak Ridge High School.

Sheriff John Mina said the two students got into a disagreement over a bump in the hallway.

According to deputies, Redding ran back to Oak Ridge High after the shooting and was found in the cafeteria with a gun in his backpack.

Redding has an in-jail arraignment scheduled for Thursday at 8:15 a.m.
