PORT St. JOHN, Fla. – A man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend on Sunday in Brevard County, according to Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
Sheriff Ivey said the investigation began after deputies responded to multiple calls for service around 12:15 p.m. regarding shots fired in the 7000 block of Carlow Ave., Port St. John.
According to a news release, deputies found a woman – later identified as 28-year-old Lendzi Lakeman – suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Ivey said that investigators determined that 23-year-old Tyjah Bellinger, the victim’s boyfriend, was “responsible for the shooting.”
According to the release, deputies located Bellinger at a residence on Dallas Avenue in Port St. John where he was immediately taken into custody without incident.
Ivey said that Bellinger faces charges of first-degree murder after an arrest warrant was signed following the initial investigation.
He is currently being held in the Brevard County jail without bond.
