Siblings found dead in murder-suicide in St. Cloud

Police ID siblings as Nereida Ramirez, Frankie Ortiz

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A man and his sister, both in their 60s, were found dead Sunday when St. Cloud police conducted a well-being check at a mobile home community, officials said.

St. Cloud police said officers went to The Mark Mobile Home Community, located near the intersection of 10th Street and U.S. 192, after a relative requested the check.

Police said officers found the bodies of Nereida Ramirez and her brother, Frankie Ortiz.

The deaths of the siblings, who lived together, is being investigated as a domestic murder-suicide, according to police.

Authorities said Ramirez had visible stab or puncture wounds and was found in a state of advanced decomposition. Police said Ortiz later took his own life.

“This is a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, especially the family and neighbors of the deceased,” said St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke. “While we are confident there is no ongoing threat to the community, we extend our deepest sympathies for the loss of these two lives.”

An investigation is active and ongoing.
