BUNNELL, Fla. – Eighteen months after shots were fired at a home in Bunnell, the city’s police agency says a suspect in the case has been caught.
Traycan Verdell, 27, was taken into custody by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office over the holiday.

Investigators believe Verdell was driving the vehicle on Jun 19, 2024, when the drive-by shooting occurred at a home on Hymon Circle. No one was hurt, but detectives found several shell casings in the driveway.
The vehicle was found abandoned in Daytona Beach, with a handgun and ammunition inside.
Police said they were able to identify everyone who was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting, but they were originally given false statements about who was driving and who was a passenger, which hindered the investigation.
Detectives interviewed Verdell a few days after the shooting and he said he had been in the vehicle earlier in the day, but was home at the time of the shooting. Police say witness interviews and evidence at his home determined otherwise.
Verdell is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an occupied building.
