Orlando police said two people were in the car and one of them was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The condition of the other victim has not been released.

Video from the scene shows an SUV split in half, with a large debris field. No other crash details have been released.

Colonial Drive was closed in both directions from Mills to Shine avenues, but police tweeted hours later that all lanes were reopened.

Bill West, a worker with GDP Design and Construction, is in the middle of refurbishing a vacant business near where the crash happened.

West believes metal pieces from the SUV flew through the window of the business and shattered it.

“All of the sudden I see my window broke and they are trying to figure out what happened,” West said.

Investigators spent about six hours picking up evidence and cleaning up the scene. Two trucks showed up to pick up what was left of the SUV.

“If it happened during the day, people could’ve been hurt in here,” West said.
