ORLANDO, Fla. – Another cold front is moving down through the area Friday bringing another small stretch of cooler weather for Central Florida!
The front is starting across northern neighborhoods this morning and will continue to push further south through through the afternoon. Along this front, expect plenty of cloud cover overhead with conditions clearing through the afternoon and early evening. Besides the clouds, minimal moisture is associated with this boundary. If any rain does develop, it will likely remain light and isolated with coverage at 20%.
As the front finally begins clearing out, northerly winds will help keep the area cooler than normal with highs staying in the 60s. Expect winds to increase a bit further to 10-15 mph along the coast, with gusts possibly reaching 20-25 mph.
Once the front passes through Friday evening, skies will clear with lows dipping into the 40s across most inland areas and in the 50s along the coast, Some of the colder spots, like northern Lake County and northwest Volusia and Marion counties, could dip into the upper 30s by morning. The winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills possibly dropping into the mid 30s to low 40s inland.
A freeze watch is in effect for Central and Western Marion County Friday evening through Saturday morning.
WEEKEND
Looking ahead to the weekend, high pressure will move into the area on Saturday and stay through Sunday, kickstarting our warming trend.
Saturday will still be cooler than normal, with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, and Sunday will be a little warmer, with highs in the low to mid 70s. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 40s to low 50s across most of the area. It’ll be dry all weekend, with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.
NEXT WEEK
A steady onshore breeze early in the week will lead to warmer than normal temperatures with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s Monday, with low 80s across much of the area on Tuesday.
The next real chance for rain comes late Wednesday into Wednesday night, as a cold front pushes across the area ahead of a strong storm system moving through the central U.S.
However, rain amounts don’t look too impressive at this point, with only a 20-30% chance of rain on Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Ahead of the front, temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, but will drop into the 60s across much of the area on Thursday with lows dipping back into the mid 40s to mid 50s Wednesday and Thursday night.
