ORLANDO, Fla. – Get ready, sky-watchers as the second supermoon of 2025 is set to light up our skies in November.
The November full moon is traditionally called the Beaver Moon, a name that dates back to the time when beavers were busiest preparing their lodges for winter.
Not only will it be a full moon, it will be the second in a trio of supermoons.
November Supermoon
On Nov. 5, 2025, the full moon will reach peak illumination at 8:19 a.m. EST. Because it coincides with the moon’s closest approach to Earth, this will be one of the biggest and brightest moon of the year.
For the best experience, plan to watch on the evening of Nov. 4 or the night of Nov. 5 as the moon rises in the east. That’s when it will appear especially large and golden on the horizon.
While you don’t need any special equipment, binoculars and limited light pollution can enhance the view.
Other 2025 Supermoons
In 2025, there are three full moons that qualify as supermoons:
- Oct. 6, 2025 – the Harvest Moon
- Nov. 5, 2025 – the Beaver Moon
- Dec. 4, 2025 – the Cold Moon
What is a Supermoon?
A “supermoon” happens when a full moon lines up with the moon’s closest approach to Earth, a point called perigee. Because the moon is slightly nearer than usual, it appears a bit larger and brighter in the sky. The difference isn’t drastic, but it’s enough to make the moonlight stand out a bit.
Weather Outlook for Central Florida
The forecast for the night of Nov. 5 looks favorable. Skies are expected to be mostly clear with mild temperatures and minimal cloud cover. That means excellent viewing conditions for the Beaver Moon as it shines brightly overhead.
