LAKELAND, Fla. – The 28th annual Lakeland Pigfest is firing up its grills again with food, friends, music and charity.
The barbecue festival features live music and entertainment, fun food competition, and barbecue vending, according to the event’s website.

Lakeland Pigfest is a nationally-recognized Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned barbeque event, event organizers wrote.
The festival also has three competitions of varying levels:
- Kinder’s Professional BBQ Contest: An official KCBS competition with professional teams
- The Publix Backyard Competition: Similar rules to KCBS with local teams
- Applegate Kids-Q Cooking Contest: A children’s contest that follows all KCBS Kids rules and regulations

The Pigfest will be held at the SUN n’ FUN Expo campus in Lakeland — located at 4175 Medulla Road — from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Jan. 24 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 25.
Admission is $5 per person and free for those 12 and under who enter with an adult. Attendees can also trade in their cash for “Pigbucks,” the festival’s currency for purchasing food and beverages.
