ORLANDO, Fla. – One of the oldest ice cream stores in the country is set to open its doors in Orlando next month.
According to the company — The Original Rainbow Cone — the shop was originally founded in Chicago in the 1920s, and it’s set to host a grand opening celebration on Friday, March 7.

In a release, a spokesperson for the company told News 6 that the celebration will kick off with a ribbon-cutting, and the first 99 guests in line will be treated to free “Rainbow Cones” as the business celebrates the countdown to its 100th anniversary.
“The five-layer cone features chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (vanilla with cherries and walnuts) and pistachio ice cream topped with orange sherbet,” the release reads. “Unlike traditional scooped cones, the Rainbow Cone layers the flavors in slices to provide a harmonious blend of flavors and textures in every taste.”
The celebration is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. at 461 North Alafaya Trail in the Waterford Lakes Town Center.
This isn’t the first Florida location for the classic ice cream shop, though. The Original Rainbow Cone also has locations in Key West and near Tampa.
