Ocoee High School’s 3DE program: Shaping tomorrow’s innovators

Innovative four-year program immerses students in real-world business challenges

OCOEE, Fla. – In today’s fast-paced world, entrepreneurship isn’t just a career path—it’s a mindset.

At Ocoee High School, the 3DE program, a collaboration between Junior Achievement and local businesses, is equipping students with the skills they need to thrive in any industry.

This innovative four-year program immerses students in real-world business challenges from day one. By the time they reach eleventh grade, they’re not just dreaming about business—they’re launching their own.

The highlight? Market Expo Day, where these young entrepreneurs showcase their ventures.

“3DE is an incredible model where students tackle real-world problems alongside businesses. They start with creating recommendations and progress to launching their own businesses,” said Mayra Blackburn, the 3DE Coordinator

With Market Expo Day on the horizon, students are refining their business plans with insights from industry experts like Kareisa Genal of Addition Financial. “We introduced them to marketing strategies that go beyond traditional methods, encouraging them to think big,” Genal explains.

But it’s not just about business know-how. The program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration—skills that are invaluable in any field. Students like Colby Salvatore are leveraging social media with creative content for their business “Stay Frosty,” while the “Chocolate Nibbles” team is perfecting their offerings.

The JAARK Thrift team is making waves, too, using surveys to fine-tune their business strategy. “Our goal is to offer diverse, affordable clothing options that let students express themselves,” they say.

As Market Expo Day approaches, these students are not only gaining entrepreneurial skills but also building confidence and forging their own paths. The 3DE program at Ocoee High School is more than just a business class—it’s a launchpad for future innovators.
