Gas prices continued their descent nationwide heading into November, having fallen every month since July when they peaked at $3.50 on average.

Record oil production in the U.S. and a hurricane season that has thus far spared oil and gas infrastructure have all contributed to today’s gas prices, which are at three-year lows.

”While much of the attention this week will be on the election and how it could potentially change the trajectory of the nation, gasoline prices are likely to be a gift to the next president, staying much lower than in previous years when COVID and Russia’s war on Ukraine caused a surge that’s unlikely to repeat, no matter who wins the election,” GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan said in a statement Monday.
