The average cost to fill up the tank continues to hover around $3 per gallon this week, with Gulf, Midwest, and Plains states seeing the lowest prices in the nation.

Analyst Andrew Gross at AAA said in a statement Thursday he’s growing less confident that the national average will fall below the much hyped $3 mark.

”It appears to be stuck despite low demand and cheaper oil. But 31 states already have an average below $3,” Gross said.

Still, the cost to fill up is about 10 cents lower than it was one year ago at this time. Prices may rise some in the next few weeks as increased holiday travel typically generates more demand for gas, pushing prices upward.

Stacker compiled statistics on gas prices in Florida. Gas prices are as of Dec. 13.
