BRADENTON, Fla. – A 77-year-old woman was attacked by an alligator Saturday evening near a pond at a gated community in Bradenton, according to the Florida Wildlife Commission.
FWC said it responded responded to the community on Ellsworth Avenue around 6 p.m. along with the the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Manatee County EMS.

The woman was taken to a hospital, but the extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.
FWC said a nearly 8-foot alligator was removed from the area and they are “confident” it is the one that attacked the woman. Officials said a witness kept an eye on the alligator until a trapper arrived to remove it.
