FEMA administers COVID-19 vaccine at Orlando Northwest Neighborhood Center

Orlando mobile site opens

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – In efforts to bring vaccine shots to those who otherwise wouldn’t have access, FEMA on Thursday opened a vaccine satellite site at the Northwest Neighborhood Center in Orlando.

The mobile site at 3955 W D Judge Drive will be open through Saturday. Operations will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointments are necessary, however, it is a walk-up site and patients should plan accordingly.

According to FEMA officials, the site will offer 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine each day.

Ed Kirk, 65, said he drove from Melbourne to get his vaccine at the Northwest Community Center.

“I work too, so by the time Saturday comes along, where are you going to find it? Coming up here (to Orlando) was easy,” Kirk said.

Carmelita Legette, 71, came to the site with her sister.

“I think I needed to be here to do this because I have seven grandchildren and I want to see them grow up,” Legette said.

Shots are free to eligible individuals. Click here to see if you qualify for the vaccine under Orange County guidelines.

Individuals can also head to Central Florida’s main FEMA site at Valencia College’s west campus in Orlando. The site is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Seniors 65 and older can request a free ride from LYNX.
