Police said at the time the woman and man knew each other and he was rushed to the hospital after the shooting.
According to an arrest warrant, responding deputies found shell casings in the driveway of the home. A witness described to deputies a woman with blonde hair was shooting at a black truck, according to the report. Deputies learned from the witness the suspect left in a silver truck with another woman.
The sheriff’s office said they received a phone call from the hospital that a shooting victim was there for treatment, according to the warrant. Deputies went to the hospital to speak with Brandyn Smith, who said his sister Amber Smith arrived to his home with another person.
Brandyn Smith said his sister wrote him a check but became “aggravated,” got in the silver truck and took the check with her. According to the warrant, Brandyn Smith told authorities he was upset he didn’t get the check and went to her home but arrived before she was able to get back. He knocked on the door and spoke with a woman who answered the door when Amber Smith arrived with a firearm, according to the warrant.
The document said Brandyn Smith told deputies he tried to protect himself by hiding behind his truck and once she fired at a car driving by, he made his way into his truck. Amber Smith fired “multiple rounds” at the truck with one of the rounds grazing his head, the warrant said.
Law enforcement officials were able to confirm the shooting through video footage from the residence.
Amber Smith faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
