Law enforcement responded to the school after a student was shot over a dispute over a dead relative, according to Sanford police. Police said the victim, an 18-year-old student, was shot three times by the 16-year-old suspect.

“One of the children did go to the school. We’re looking into if the other person went to the school,” said Ronny Neal, public information officer for the Sanford Police Department.

The school sent a voicemail to parents about the updated dismissal on the main campus.
