ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – University of Central Florida said Monday that nearly 400 students have requested assistance related to Hurricane Ian.
The university said the majority of those students reside at the Arden Villas Apartments off-campus. Some of those students also had their vehicles destroyed in the flood waters.

Rescue crews had to help approximately 200 residents of the apartment complex — many of them UCF students — evacuate last week after flooding forced them from their homes.
According to UCF, professors are being encouraged to delay tests.
“One of my other teachers, she postponed our exams and, like, assignment so that kids still have time, and if they can’t get to class, then she will post all the Zoom shows sessions and everything,” sophomore Christina Lacal said.
Lacal and fellow student Emily King said Monday that students affected by the hurricane are looking for other places to live.
“They’ve been asking if there’s lien subleasing apartments because they need somewhere to live,” King said.
Counseling and mental health service are being offered for students, as well. UCF said the Knights Helping Knights food pantry is available as a resource.
