BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Brightline’s latest round of high-speed testing is slated to begin in Brevard County, according to a release from the company.
The testing is expected to reach up to 110 mph and start between Cocoa and Melbourne, company officials said. They added that the testing was originally set to kick off this week, though it’s now delayed until April.

The release shows that Brightline continued its high-speed testing Monday through the 35-mile rail corridor along the Beachline Expressway/State Road 528 from Orlando International Airport to Cocoa.
The upcoming testing will take place along a 10-mile section of track through Cocoa, Rockledge and Melbourne between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, company officials explained.

According to Brightline, flaggers will be present at the 10 railroad crossings between Suntree Boulevard and Rosa L. Jones Boulevard.
Brightline began testing in Brevard County last year in preparation to open in Orlando in 2023. The project is ongoing in phases along the 129-mile rail corridor between West Palm Beach and Cocoa, the company announced.
Testing is expected to bring additional wait times at railroad crossings. The full list of crossings is as follows:

- Rosa L. Jones Boulevard
- Barton Boulevard
- Eyster Boulevard
Rockledge
- Rinker Way — Cemex/General Portland (private crossing)
- Gus Hipp Road
- Barnes Boulevard/State Road 502
- Carver Street
- Ansin Road
- Viera Boulevard
Melbourne
- Suntree Boulevard
Residents are urged to be alert and follow the law around active railroad tracks. Drivers should be aware that rail traffic will run on both tracks in both directions.
