ORLANDO, Fla. – “Aw, here it goes,” a familiar phrase many millennials remember from Coolio rapping the theme song to “Kenan & Kel,” the successful spinoff of the comedy kid sketch show on Nickelodeon, “All That.”
Both shows were filmed at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Orlando. “All That” started in 1994, with Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell getting their own spinoff series, “Kenan & Kel,” in 1996.
“We were doing our show, and then in between breaks, we would go get on the ‘Back to the Future’ ride and ride around there,” Kel Mitchell said. “All the high schools use to be in our audience, so that was cool too.”
“All That” was Nickelodeon’s longest-running live-action series, with 171 episodes across ten seasons from 1994 to 2005.

The franchise paved the way for several successful spin-offs, including “Kenan & Kel,” “The Amanda Show,” “The Nick Cannon Show,” and of course, the feature-length film, “Good Burger.”
Thompson and Mitchell recently reunited for “Good Burger 2,” the sequel to their beloved 1997 teen comedy movie.
“When we started in Florida going on ‘All That,’ that was 1994, so that’s super cool. And now you have kids that are doing ‘Good Burger’ birthdays, and they weren’t even born around that time.”
He says it was surreal to reprise his role in the sequel.
“You know, you guys grew up with us, so it’s been great to get back into playing Ed. It wasn’t too hard to do once I put that wig on,” Mitchell said.
In the new year, the duo is planning even more films together.
“We used to hang out all the time in Florida and then it’s beautiful to have a cast member turn into a brother, you know what I mean, after all these years,” Mitchell said.
He’s a two-time Emmy Award-nominated actor, producer, comedian and youth pastor.
He says he first became a youth pastor in 2016 at his church.
“They’ve just been a big part of my life. God has been a big part of my life, and I’m all about that and letting people know that they’re beautifully and wonderfully made by God and that’s very important to me,” Mitchell said.
He’s working with World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization that helps communities lift themselves out of poverty.
