Meet 4 Solutionaries solving problems in their communities

Solutions journalism aims to find real answers to today’s problems

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Solutionary is someone who recognizes a problem or injustice in society and comes up with creative and innovative ways to tackle those inequities.

They help make the world a better place, one step at a time.

On Solutionaries, we’ve put a spotlight on dozens of these problemsolvers all over the country and today we have four inspiring stories to share with you.

Four groups dedicating their time and energy to helping others — and even saving lives.

Let’s start in Jacksonville.

Florida has one of the highest incarceration rates in the country, meaning tens of thousands of people are leaving jail and returning to society — often over and over again.

Starting a new life is extremely difficult — especially after prison or after escaping an abusive relationship.

Next up you’ll meet Kristyn Stillwell, founder of H.O.P.E. Haven, a nonprofit focusing on getting those unsheltered into a place of lifelong self-sufficiency.

For many, church is a place of moral and social support. It’s where neighbors and strangers can help each other and the town they call home.

In this video, you’ll meet Pastor Barry Randolph of Church of the Messiah Detroit.

From putting over 400 kids through college to helping the homeless find a place to live, Randolph is making a positive impact across his community.

Becoming a solutionary doesn’t always start with a call from god.
