Berry was ordered to be released from the Orange County Jail in November after his attorney won an attempt to release him, where he was ordered to register as a sex offender while the charges against him were pending.

According to court documents, Berry failed to register, and he was arrested on Jan. 1.

Last week, a judge ordered deputies to take him into custody for violating the terms of his release.

During his first appearance in court on Friday morning, a judge ordered him held without bond.

Berry’s history

A News 6 investigation revealed Berry was arrested six times since 2015 for indecent exposure and lewd conduct.

The mother of one of his victims, Genesis Deshawn Browdy, waged a campaign to keep Berry is custody out of fear he would repeat his actions.

According to court records, all six charges were dismissed after Berry was found not competent to stand trial.

Records show Berry was involuntarily committed to the state psychiatric hospital twice, and the staff has not been able to effectively treat him.

During his last case, his public defender attempted to release Berry to an assisted living facility, but a News 6 investigation revealed that facility was not licensed, and the judge released him without a place to stay.
