Publix worker suffers brain trauma after being struck by car after his shift

The Arc of Marion reports that the worker was headed to a bus stop when the crash happened

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Publix worker was critically injured following a crash after his shift ended, according to The Arc of Marion.

The nonprofit — a group that provides career support for adults with developmental disabilities — announced on Thursday that the employee had just gotten off work and was heading to the bus stop when the crash happened.

As a result, the worker — identified as “Kenneth,” one of the group’s clients — was taken to the ICU with trauma to his brain, officials with The Arc of Marion reported.

“Unfortunately, he has no other source of income,” a release from the group reads. “We are asking for donations to help sustain Kenneth throughout his long road to recovery.”

As of 4:30 p.m. on Friday, The Arc of Marion has reported that of the $10,000 fundraiser goal, over $5,000 had been donated.
