This is Berk: First look at ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ world at Epic Universe

New world one of five coming to Universal Orlando’s fourth park

In 2025, guests of all ages can soar with dragons in a colorful, fully-alive world filled with Viking adventures in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk (Universal Orlando Resort)

ORLANDO, Fla. – Dragons in the sky, dragons all around. In 2025, you can enter the Isle of Berk and be one with the Vikings.

On Thursday, Universal Orlando Resort released new details on How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, one of five worlds coming to the highly anticipated, Epic Universe. The attraction is based on the beloved DreamWorks franchise “How to Train Your Dragon.”

“Guests visiting Berk will encounter one of the most breathtaking environments Universal has ever created – complete with immense architecture featuring hand-carved details, lush landscaping, and extraordinary heights of rolling hills surrounding vibrant dragon houses and local establishments,” according to a Universal press release.

From attractions to the live shows, there is something for everyone at the Isle of Berk. Along with attraction details, Universal released renderings of the world.

Here are some of the highlights below:

Village Plaza

Guests visiting Berk will encounter one of the most breathtaking environments Universal has ever created – complete with immense architecture featuring hand-carved details, lush landscaping, and extraordinary heights of rolling hills surrounding vibrant dragon houses and local establishments.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders

Fly like a dragon on this family thrill coaster. Hiccup invites brave new Vikings to take a ride in his latest glider contraption – a winged flying machine that launches aspiring Dragon Riders into the sky for a dragon’s eye view of Berk. Speeds will reach up to 45 miles per hour around the perimeter of Berk – and even through the lagoon.

The Untrainable Dragon

Inspired by Universal Beijing Resort’s wildly successful “Untrainable” show, this dragon-filled live spectacular takes guests on an unforgettable journey with beloved characters Hiccup, Toothless, Gobber, and Astrid as they work together to solve the mystery of The Untrainable Dragon.

The story comes to life with captivating musical numbers, breathtaking sets and life-sized dragons soaring overhead.

Fyre Drill

Universal Epic Universe – How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk – Fyre Drill (Universal Orlando)

Mischievous Viking twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut invite teams of Vikings to compete to outscore and out-soak each other on this wet-and-wild boat battle.

Guests will board a colorful dragon-headed boat and blast water cannons at flame-like targets to practice putting out fires – a crucial skill to master when living with dragons.

Viking Training Camp

Junior Vikings will learn everything they need to know about dragons as they climb, slide and explore their way through this sprawling interactive adventure play camp – featuring a Viking agility course, a Toothless-themed teeter-totter, baby Gronckle dragon climbers and so much more.

Dragon Racer’s Rally

Berk’s new Vikings racers can practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on two Viking-made dragon-riding trainers that reach heights of up to 67 feet in the air.

You can control how “wild” or “mild” your flight will be as you perform high-flying, gravity-defying, swooping, and soaring skills that are necessary to earn the accolades worthy of a true champion dragon racer.

Hiccup and Toothless Meet & Greet

Guests can visit the Haddock Paddock for an incredible meet-and-greet experience with Hiccup, and pose for a photo with the friendly Night Fury, Toothless.

Mead Hall

Universal Epic Universe – How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk – Mead Hall – Interior (Universal Orlando Resort)

Guests can bring their Viking-sized appetites to the Mead Hall, the beating heart of Berk. A savory menu will feature a variety of meats, fish, sandwiches, and more along with a collection of meads and ciders.

A first look for How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk comes two months after officials released details on the Epic Universe park layout and Celestial Park.

The remaining worlds still in need of an epic introduction are:

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: Transporting visitors to a different era of the wizarding world, blending 1920s wizarding Paris from Fantastic Beasts films with the iconic British Ministry of Magic
  • Super Nintendo World: Featuring beloved characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong in an interactive gaming experience.
  • Dark Universe: A realm of myth and mystery, where guests encounter the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein and traverse a shadowy landscape inhabited by monsters like Dracula and the Wolfman.

Universal’s Epic Universe is on track to open in 2025. The park is located just a few miles south of Universal Orlando Resort, not far from the Orange County Convention Center on 750 acres of land.
