Florida springs reopens after attempted murder investigation

GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. – The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office announced it is investigating an attempted murder at Ginnie Springs, according to News 6 partner WJXT.

According to deputies, around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, they responded to an attempted murder that happened in the roadway inside the park, between the Devil’s Spring and the Tube Launch.

Details about the incident were not released.

Ginnie Springs posted on its website and social media accounts that the park was temporarily closed.

Later, the park said it was open for daily admissions on Monday and would return to normal operations at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Gilchrist County deputies and Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials were on the scene conducting an investigation, trying to identify witnesses and one “outstanding subject that was involved.”

Deputies described the “outstanding subject” as a woman in her early 20s, about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, fit and muscular with long braids and light-tinted contacts. She was also wearing a green bikini top or a dark multi-colored patterned top and bikini bottoms or shorts, according to deputies.

“She had been staying in this area all day and was last seen walking toward the exit of the park,” deputies wrote.

News4JAX called Ginnie Springs to ask about this incident, and they said they had no comment.
