Want to wrangle invasive pythons? FWC hosting virtual training sessions

ORLANDO, Fla. – With the annual Florida Python Challenge just weeks away, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) offers free online seminars to educate the public about Burmese python trapping.

The monthly virtual class, called Python Patrol, was created to help Floridians learn the basics of Python identification and capture. The first training begins at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Sessions are held every third Thursday through September.

The Florida Python Challenge begins Aug. 9 and requires mandatory training before registration. The competition offers prizes of up to $10,000 for the most and longest invasive snakes.
