This year’s event runs Aug. 3-4

So, engines will roar inside the Kia Center, instead of Camping World Stadium.

News 6 anchor Bridgett Ellison had the privilege of chatting with a monster truck driver with local roots this morning on “Breakfast with Bridgett.”

Jamie Sullivan is from Christmas, Florida, and now in her second year of driving Monster Mutt Dalmation.

Sullivan credits her father for encouraging her from an early age to pursue her dream job. It’s a dream she now shares with the kids coming to the shows.

“It’s so incredible, especially during the pit party, getting to see really yourself in all these children that come through. Just kinda getting to inspire the next generation, it’s incredible. You know, sometimes you have to pinch yourself and realize where you are and how far you’ve come in motorsports,” Sullivan said. “And it’s such a dream come true. I owe it all to my family for sure for getting to this point. If it wasn’t for my dad, I’m not sure I’d actually be driving in Monster Jam too, so definitely takes a lot of effort.”

Sullivan holds Automotive and High-Performance Motorsports Technology degrees from University of Northwestern Ohio. UNOH is an official partner of Monster Jam and Monster Jam University.

There are three shows this weekend, two on Saturday, Aug. 3, and one Sunday, Aug. 4.

Nearly a dozen trucks will be racing, and tickets are still available on Ticketmaster, starting at $25.
