MOUNT DORA, Fla. – There’s a new convenient way to get around Mount Dora on the weekends.
Powered by two electric vehicles, a new on-demand electric shuttle service is designed to alleviate long-standing parking challenges in Mount Dora’s downtown area, by reducing traffic congestion and freeing up limited parking availability by providing an accessible alternative to driving.
Residents and visitors can park in any of the city’s 14 designated surface lots and use Freebee to navigate the downtown area.

The eco-friendly service will operate Friday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A ribbon cutting is set for 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sunset Park with the first shuttle service running on Friday.
Following the city council’s greenlight to the shuttle program over the summer, some Mount Dora business owners told News 6 they were optimistic about the service.
The pilot program is set to run one year and if successful, the program may extend into a multi-year contract for an additional pair of two-year terms.
The shuttle service also provides an app for people to use to show routes, and where the stops are and will provide emergency alerts such as for inclement weather.
