ORLANDO, Fla. – People have experienced more than 4,500 performances at the The Dr. Phillips Arts for the Performing Arts since it opened 10 years ago.
“Until people came into the building, this first 10 years of planning it and getting it built, there was the his ‘aha’ moment when people realized this is what a performing arts center of this scale really means,” said President Kathy Ramsberger.
Ramsberger said Wednesday marks 10 years since they open their doors. They’ve had five million guests come to their four theaters and even to their events outside their facility.
“Introducing cultural experiences in young kids lives, the more consistent we can be, the more that they will understand that it’s an important component to a balanced lifestyle,” Ramsberger said.

According to a 2023 economic impact study by Oxford Economics, center brings in around $190 million dollars per year. It also generates $13.2 million in tax revenue for public services.
“The Opera over at Steinmantz Hall, the Orlando Philharmonic and Orlando Ballet perform regularly there. There’s an amazing Broadway series that goes on a Disney Hall. This theater, the Pugh Theater where we’re standing, has an incredible number and variety of productions and performances,” said Russell Allen with Opera Orlando.
The center also helped local organizations like Opera Orlando grow.
This year marks nine years for Opera Orlando, one of the first organizations to perform at Dr. Phillips and in Steinmantz Hall.
“The arts are thriving in Orlando in Orlando. It’s really incredible. The Dr. Phillips Center has been a game changer,” Allen said.
Rensberger said they are at capacity and plan to expand outside venues on their nine-acre property.
