COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A board meeting like no other, the 16th annual Surfing Santas event is almost here!
This fun yuletide tradition brings thousands to Cocoa Beach to gather, surf and raise money for a great cause.

This year’s event, like every year, is on Dec. 24 and kicks off near Coconuts on the Beach at 3 Minutemen Causeway at 7:30 a.m. and runs until about noon.

Surfing Santas founder George Trosset started the event in 2009 and has raised more than $100,000 for local charities. The event benefits The Florida Surf Museum and Grind for Life, event organizers said.
“Over the past decade, Surfing Santas has grown into one of the most unique and fun-filled charity events the world has ever seen,” according to the event’s website. “This congregation of costumed kahunas has grown to record-breaking numbers with over 800 Surfing Santas and nearly 10,000 spectators. Sponsorship from the city of Cocoa Beach and the participation of local businesses have come to make this a true community event. Moreover, the event benefits the Florida Surf Museum which is “Preserving Floridas Surfing History” and Grind for Life, a local charity benefiting people suffering from cancer.”

The 2024 schedule is as follows:
- 7:30 a.m.: Event official opening with Invocation and Mele Kaliki Maka with Pastor Keith & Balsa Bill
- 8: a.m.: The Mighty Flea Circus Band
- 8:30 a.m.: First round of costume contest starts
- 9 a.m.: Second round of costume contest starts
- 9:30 a.m.: Surfing Santas photo opportunity
- 10 a.m.: Santas go surfing!
- 10:15 a.m.: Brevard Hawaiian Dancers
- 10:45 a.m.: The Mighty Flea Circus Band
- Noon: Event conclusion
