MOUNT DORA, Fla. – The City of Mount Dora is expecting thousands of people to ring in 2025 at its annual New Year’s Eve celebration.
City officials estimate 15,000 people will countdown to midnight at Sunset Park.
The event will be complete with live entertainment, street games and, of course, midnight fireworks.
“We know how to bring in a holiday, but most importantly, it’s the feeling,” said Cultural and Special Events Manager for the City of Mount Dora Chris Carson. “It’s living in the moment.”

Carson anticipates the New Year’s Eve bash will bring in millions of dollars.
“The whole area is going to see millions of dollars coming into Mount Dora, as well as Lake County,” Carson said.
Magical Meat Boutique is right by Sunset Park where all of the New Year’s Eve action is taking place, so they are preparing for a lot of customers to walk through their doors.
“We may even put a little bar out against the fence because we’ve got the open entertainment here so people can take drinks to-go,” said Magical Meats Boutique owner Phil Barnard.
Barnard said they plan to celebrate 2025 not once, but twice.
“We’re having a double celebration,” Barnard said. “We’ll have up a big screen, and at 7 o’clock, we celebrate the eve, New Year’s Eve in England. So we have all the fireworks in Big Bend and in London, and then, you know, champagne and everything else. And then, we’ll have the local one, midnight.”
People who live in Mount Dora or are passing through to celebrate can expect road closures downtown on Tuesday.
From 2 p.m. - 9 a.m., 4th Avenue between Dora Drawdy Way and Alexander Street will be closed, and from 7 p.m. - 12:45 a.m., Alexander Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue will close.
Mount Dora Police Chief Michael Gibson said they’ll be out in full force making sure people ring in 2025 safely.
“Well, they always need, clearly from a safety perspective, they need to be aware of their surroundings, always,” Gibson said. “There’ll be plenty of police officers, so if they need us for anything, just call for help.”
City officials told News 6 that the shuttles will not run for this event.
