Cocoa Beach police arrest man accused of robbing convenience store at gunpoint

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A man arrested by Cocoa Beach police is accused of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint and allegedly making away with $5,400 worth of scratch-offs.

Rasheem Rudolph Jones, 29, faces charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, and grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000, court records show.

Jones, one of two suspects in a robbery reported Jan. 5 at a 7-Eleven along East Cocoa Beach Causeway, is accused of brandishing a firearm at the store clerk as the pair allegedly stole around $152 along with the lottery tickets, investigators said.

A warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued within three days of the incident and he was apprehended on Tuesday, police said, adding he was also linked to a similar case out of Cocoa which occurred around 24 hours after the Cocoa Beach incident. In his Cocoa case, Jones faces charges of attempted robbery with a firearm with a mask enhancement, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the Brevard County Clerk of Court.

Jones is scheduled to be arraigned on both cases on Feb. 18, records show.
