SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A former employee of Visit Orlando is behind bars in Seminole County in connection to a child porn case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
Matthew Inman, 39, of Orlando, faces a charge of transportation of child sex abuse material (CSAM), U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg announced Friday. He was arrested Jan. 16 by the U.S. Marshals Service, records show.
The complaint against Inman alleges he received and saved several CSAM videos to his phone last year before traveling to Las Vegas to meet with an undercover law enforcement officer who posed as the father of a 9-year-old boy. During Inman’s conversation with the undercover officer, the 39-year-old expressed interest in meeting and sexually assaulting the fictional child, the complaint states, adding that Inman sent CSAM videos to the undercover officer.
During the execution of a search warrant that the FBI obtained for Inman’s residence and electronic devices, he allegedly tried to delete evidence from his phone and hide in the attic of his house, the release states.
Inman faces a minimum of five years in federal prison and a maximum of 20 years if convicted.
Visit Orlando said in a statement that it immediately began the process to terminate Inman from his job. The termination was effective on Tuesday, the statement reads.
Further statements shared after Inman’s arrest by the Orange County Democratic Party and the Rainbow Democrats also served to distance the organizations from him.
