Lake Mary-Heathrow Festival of the Arts raises scholarship funds for students

LAKE MARY, Fla. – The Lake Mary-Heathrow Festival of the Arts will showcase dozens of artists this weekend, raising funds for students in Seminole County.

The two-day festival kicks off Saturday with a full day of events. The event runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The arts festival helps raise scholarship money for graduating Seminole County High School students, according to event organizers.

"In its more than 38 years of sponsoring the free Lake Mary‑Heathrow Festival of the Arts, the organization has donated in excess of a quarter of a million dollars to assist Seminole County students in pursuing their education‚" the event’s website reads.

Here’s the entertainment line-up for the weekend:

Saturday

  • 11 a.m.: Opening ceremonies, Heathrow Elementary third grade choir
  • 12 p.m.: Markham Woods Middle School
  • 12:45 p.m.: Hamilton Elementary drumline and flag team
  • 1:30 p.m.: Seminole Theatre
  • 2:15 p.m.: Millennium Middle School guitar
  • 3:15 p.m.: Bach to Rock: Velvet Vibes
  • 4 p.m.: Bach to Rock: Bombface
  • 5 p.m.: Awards ceremony

Sunday

  • 10 a.m.: Opening announcements
  • 10:30 a.m.: Mike Petrovich
  • 12 p.m.: Up tempo dance
  • 12:45 p.m.: Edge Dance Studios
  • 1:30 p.m.: Mariachi International Tapatio
  • 2 p.m.: Intersection Big Band

"We hope to stimulate, energize, and foster pride within the local economy, encourage involvement within Seminole County, entertain our guests, and celebrate the arts!" the website reads.
