No details were offered on why she is resigning, the county said.

Gullet was the first superintendent to be appointed in the district, against 46 other candidates during the pandemic, according to her district profile.

She joined the district in July 2020 after serving with Orange County Public Schools for 19 years as an elementary school dean, principal, then an area superintendent, her profile states. She has over three decades of experience in public education.

“It has been a true honor to work with you and I have been humbled and blessed to serve our students together,” she wrote in her email.

The county’s school board members will begin their search for a new superintendent to lead the district and its 46,500 students and over 7,000 employees, the release stated.
