“Let’s say you started a business selling pens and you’re going out door to door. Let’s say it’s just old school, and you’re selling pens, just you individually selling pens. How we begin to scale is now I go out and I get you on my team, and now you actually go out and start selling pens as well. Right, our same pens,” said Russell. “And then we bring Eric on, Eric starts selling pens. So now I’ve been able to multiply myself because you all are out selling pens as well. And now you all can actually go sell pens and I’m no longer selling pens, but we’re still getting the double or triple the amount of pens that I actually sold by myself. That’s scale. Growth is me going from, let’s say I used to sell 10 pens a day, then I went to selling 20 pens a day, but that was because I was putting in more work and putting in my hours to get to 20 pens a day. I brought you on and Eric on and we went to 20 pens a day without me doing any work. That scale growth is me actually putting the effort in to drive growth in the business.”
From high school dropout and former drug dealer to financial role model, Russell is a walking billboard for Canadian rapper and singer Drake’s song lyrics, “started from the bottom now I’m here.”
