ORLANDO, Fla. – As we roll into spring, there’s an important reminder you need to know: The REAL ID deadline is approaching — and fast.
By May 7, all forms of state-issued identification, including driver’s licenses and ID cards, must be REAL ID compliant.
But what does that actually mean for you? Are you already good to go, or is there something you still need to do?
On Monday, Rebekah Haddock, a representative from the Seminole County Tax Collector’s Office, joined Trooper Steve on Patrol and discussed the following:
- What exactly does REAL ID compliance mean?
- What documents do you need to bring if you still need to upgrade your ID?
- How to tell if your current license or ID card is already compliant.
- And why does this matter not just for airports, but for federal facilities too?
If your ID has a gold star in the corner, you’re likely in the clear. But if it doesn’t, there could be some last-minute steps you need to take to avoid any headaches later.
