Heavy rain slams Titusville as officials warn of hazardous conditions amid flash flood warnings

Parts of Brevard County have received close to 11 inches of rain

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Officials in Titusville on Sunday asked residents to stay off the roads as heavy rains caused flooding throughout the city.

The National Weather Service on Monday reported that over 15.5 inches of rain fell in Titusville.

The Titusville Fire Department on Sunday posted on social media, in park, “By now you have reviewed multiple weather alerts for flash flooding and significant weather in or area. Without overstating the obvious, we have taken several inches of rain in a very short period of time. PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS.”

Officials said they received a number of calls for “people stuck” and flooded roads.

In addition, the NWS issued a flash flood warning for Titusville, Rockledge, Cocoa, Port Saint John, Sharpes, Titusville Airport, Merritt Island, Canaveral Groves, Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, Bellwood and Canaveral Acres.

More rain is expected across the region on Monday, with some areas possibly getting 2-4 inches of rain.
