1 killed, 1 injured in Sanford shooting, police say

Incident reported at 14th Street and Mangoustine Avenue

SANFORD, Fla. – Sanford police are investigating after a Saturday afternoon shooting left one person dead and another injured, according to a news release.

Police said they responded to 14th Street and Mangoustine Avenue around 3:30 p.m. regarding reported shots fired.

According to the release, officers located a victim – later identified as 22-year-old La-Don Ja Quan Williams.

Williams was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after, police said.

In addition, officers made contact with an second person at a nearby hospital who sustained minor injuries related to the shooting.

Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous, and tips to Crimeline that lead to solving homicides are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 dollars.
