SANFORD, Fla. – A search for a man who fled a traffic stop attempt on Thursday forced Seminole High School in Sanford into lockdown.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrested Trevious Holley, 28. According to an arrest report, a detective with the agency’s Gang and Habitual Offender Suppression Taskforce saw Holley get into a Range Rover with dark-tinted windows.
When the detective tried to pull Holley over, he said Holley sped from the traffic stop. According to the report, the detective turned off the cruiser’s lights and sirens and tracked the vehicle down to Chase Avenue, where it had been abandoned. The detective said he saw a handgun that had clearly been thrown onto a trash can.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter and brought in a K9 team to search for Holley before the arrest report states Holley walked outside of his grandparents’ house and surrendered.
Holley’s arrest report identifies him as a “prolific offender.” Court records show he was adjudicated guilty of attempted carjacking with a firearm and aggravated assault in 2014. He also served time in prison after he was adjudicated guilty of a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge in 2017.
Seminole High School was put on a Code Yellow lockdown, meaning no one could enter or leave campus, according to school officials. The school alerted families about the lockdown.
Deputies say the window tint on Holley’s Range Rover was darker than legally allowed, but he was charged with flee/elude law enforcement and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The 28-year-old faced a judge from the jail Friday afternoon, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond. The judge said if he is released, he is not permitted to have a weapon and will be required to have a GPS monitor.
