SANFORD, Fla. – A 20-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly threatening to blow up Elevation High School last week, according to the Sanford Police Department.

In an arrest report, police said a student reported that a “man outside of the school with a red hoodie” had stated he was going to shoot up the school.

Afterward, the school resource officer began asking students around the campus whether they’d seen anyone wearing a red hoodie.

“One student, Jalen Slaughter, was wearing a maroon hoodie along with white headphones, stated he did not hear or say anything due to his being on county GPS,” the report reads.

The SRO then met with another witness, who claimed he was outside when another student wearing a maroon hoodie with white headphones walked by, investigators revealed.

According to the witness, the maroon-clad student told other students, “You should all go home. I’m gonna blow this school up,” and, “Y’all think I’m playing; OK, watch.”

Afterward, 20-year-old Jalen Slaughter was arrested and now faces a charge of threatening to bomb. He is held on no bond.

Jail records also reveal that Slaughter was on probation with GPS monitoring for a prior conviction of armed trespassing.

According to the school’s website, the school serves “grades 9-12 through the age of 21.”
