The show is based off the 1984 movie. When big-city teenager, Ren McCormack moves to a small town, he finds that the local minister has banned rock music and dancing in response to a tragedy.

Ren goes against the ban and tries to shake things up, all while falling in love with the minister’s daughter, Ariel Moore. They work to overturn the ban and win over the whole community.
