LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Court documents say an associate of the former Osceola County sheriff, Marcos Lopez, may testify at the illegal gambling trial for Lopez’s estranged wife.

Lopez and Robin Severance-Lopez are accused of racketeering in connection with the illegal gambling operation and were arrested in June.

New court documents from prosecutors say they have a witness ready to testify against Severance-Lopez, that she and Lopez got a tour of the casino that included seeing slot machines. And she said the casino looked “nice.”

The witness is Krishna Deokaran, who was also arrested back in October on money laundering charges tied to the investigation.

Prosecutors say Deokaran is also willing to testify that he gave an envelope filled with cash to Severance-Lopez, along with a bag of gifts, saying, “This is for Marco.”

Severance-Lopez has a trial date set for early December.
