Sumter County school district approve new rules for e-bikes

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – The Sumter County school board on Tuesday approved new rules for e-bikes.

The changes formally ban students from using the gas-powered portion of their e-bikes or scooters while on campus.

The proposal also mandates anyone under 16 to wear helmets.

Students also have to dismount and walk their device to storage areas before class.

Students who refuse could face disciplinary action.
