Historic Cady Way Pool prepares for new upgrades, additions

Renovations include new pool, volleyball courts and pickleball courts

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Resort-type amenities are on the way to Cady Way Park very soon to complement the iconic Cady Way Pool.

Nearly $4 million of renovations will bring another 50-meter swimming pool, three competition-sized beach volleyball courts, pickleball courts, and green space for activities.

Orlando Health is the main sponsor, and the new pool will be named the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Pool.

“It’s a renovation, but at the same time, I think it’s also a transition as far as changing the face of the park and who it serves,” said Jady Seeley, Winter Park’s Park and Recreation director.

Seeley said the project will start construction in June and hopes to finish by Fall 2025.

The current pool at Cady Way, which has been around for six decades, will receive upgrades as well as the current locker rooms. Coach Joe Auer of the Winter Park Blue Dolfins, a local swim club, is ready to see more swimming lanes available to the public.

“When we get the new pool, there will be a lane open somewhere from 6 p.m. until 8 or 9 at night, all day,” Auer said. “Now, people don’t have to worry about it; they can show up any time they want, swim any time they want. Volleyball is going to be open all day, and people can hang out and have lunch in the historic space. It should be a good time.”
