ORLANDO, Fla. – As Sean Sweeney continues in his role as the San Antonio Spurs’ Associate Head Coach during the NBA Finals, Magic fans are getting to know Orlando’s new head coach from afar. Sweeney’s hire was officially announced by the Magic on June 1st. He’ll take over a talented roster, desperate for playoff success. This is Sweeney’s first head coaching job on any level. His college coach says that Sweeney has been ready for it. Former University of St. Thomas Head Coach Steve Fritz told News 6’s Ryan Welch that Sweeney had the characteristics of a leader 20 years ago. Sweeney will be introduced in Orlando once the NBA Finals series between the Spurs and Knicks comes to a conclusion.
