Amy Russo is an EMMY nominated journalist who joined the News 6 team in March of 2026. She will be serving Central Florida as a reporter and is excited to be back in her home state after being away for six years!

Amy is from Northwest Florida, which is where her career in news began. In 2018, she started as a digital content producer at WEAR in Pensacola. In the two years she spent there she wore many other hats as well, including producer and sideline sports reporter for Friday night high school football games. While at WEAR, Amy covered several high impact stories, including Hurricane Michael and the NAS Pensacola terrorist attack.

In 2020 Amy traded the powdery white beaches for the Lowcountry when she moved to Charleston, South Carolina and served as a multimedia journalist at WCIV. Less than a month into her new role, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, rocking the way news was gathered. Quickly adapting to the "new normal", Amy was able to cover the spread of the virus, as well as the impacts it was having on the nation. While at WCIV, Amy and her colleagues were nominated for an EMMY for their coverage on the George Floyd protests.

After two years, Amy took her talents down to the bayou in New Orleans, Louisiana. There, she served as the weekend anchor and reporter, before eventually moving on to become one of the morning anchors. Louisiana is no stranger to bad weather, so while there Amy covered everything from tornados to hurricanes to flooding. In addition, when the New Year's Day terror attack happened on Bourbon Street in 2025, Amy was in the studio live anchoring and ad-libbing the latest details for the viewers.

Four years of Mardi Gras later, Amy is back in Florida, now Orlando. She is excited to see everything Central Florida has to offer!
