It’s easy to get lost in the details, so we put together this story about what exactly you can expect when it comes to entertainment.

The Untrainable Dragon

This is a live show in the Isle of Berk: How to Train Your Dragon world. It features beloved characters including Hiccup, Gobber, and Astrid. A new dragon shows up and the Vikings think they may have finally met their match with the mystery of an untrainable dragon.

The show even has Toothless flying overhead, so look up for that. By the way, Toothless weighs 1,157 pounds, with a wingspan of nearly 27 feet.

Similar to the show at Universal Beijing Resort, this one is set in a different time period and it features different characters. The performance does include sudden and intense sound effects, lighting effects, and performers in close proximity to the audience.

Untrainable” at Universal Beijing Resort won a 2023 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement (Live Event).

Le Cirque Arcanus

Inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, Le Cirque Arcanus will be the first-ever full-scale theatre experience in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Ringmaster Skender is trying to bring Le Cirque Arcanus back to its former glory. To make it happen, he has stolen Newt Scamander’s suitcase from the “Fantastic Beasts” Harry Potter franchise to feature different creatures from around the world.

It’s up to circus employee Gwenlyn to rescue them. The show features a mix of live performers, puppetry, and special effects.

Guests get the chance to explore the strange and unusual acts of Le Cirque Arcanus as they walk past sideshow booths before making their way to the main stage.

The Universal Creative team has also taken a page out of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” as Le Cirque Arcanus will feature a charmed tent effect, like one used in the 1994 Quidditch World Cup. Things will appear small on the outside, but the experience will be bigger on the inside.

This is technically not a show, but it does give you a behind-the-scenes experience for show business inside the Dark Universe world.

Dr. Pretorius’ has transformed his old lab into a parlor to continue his demented experiments.

Artists use their talents to transform you into a beloved Universal Monster, from werewolves, to vampires and mummies, and so much more. If you don’t necessarily want a full transformation, you can also get some temporary tattoos.

The experience includes original creations from industry-leading and award-winning makeup and special effects artists.

When you step into Epic Universe’s first world and walk around Celestial Park, pay attention to the gardens, the captivating waterways, and the fountains. They themselves are expected to be a work of art.

The fountains will be putting on a little dancing water show, which is usually pretty captivating. When night falls, Celestial Park will be a spectacle in itself as Universal spared no expense when it comes to lighting.

Keeping with the world’s astronomy theme, Apollo — the god of the sun — will oversee the radiance of the day and at dusk, before passing the baton to Luna, the moon goddess, who will ignite the luminescence of the night.

Of course, there’s also the shows and special effects that happen during the attractions. Click here to learn more about that.

Opening on May 22, Universal’s fourth theme park sits on 750 acres of land with over 50 attractions.

Epic Universe features five vivid worlds:

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: Transporting visitors to a different era of the wizarding world, blending 1920s wizarding Paris from the “Fantastic Beasts” films with the iconic British Ministry of Magic.
  • Super Nintendo World: Featuring beloved characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong in an interactive gaming experience.
  • Dark Universe: A realm of myth and mystery, where guests encounter the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein and traverse a shadowy landscape inhabited by monsters like Dracula and the Wolfman.
